Rhino Records had an expanding business and a proprietary royalty system. The existing system handled most current needs, but was reaching the end of its useful life. The company decided to stop maintaining the aging application in-house and to update to a state-of the-art application that could accommodate new “bells and whistles.”

Challenge: Migrate Proprietary Royalty Database to Oracle

Moving an in-house system to an up-to-date database presented several challenges. The new software needed to include all the features of the old system. Converting the dBASE data to a more structured Oracle database required cleansing lots of data. Adding features, such as the ability to cross-collateralize licenses, made the migration even more challenging.

Solution: Successful Migration to RoyLT

After extensive discussions with Rhino, RBZ&A designed, developed, tested and implemented the RoyLT system. This flexible system has increased functionality that can be expanded further as needs change. The overhead of supporting and maintaining the new application in-house has been dramatically reduced.
